In a world where evil seems to be in control and where rendering evil for evil is the norm, how should we as Christians live? Well Matthew 5:38-47 tells us that we ought to live an abnormal life. In living an abnormal life we are expected to suffer any injury that can be borne for the sake of peace. Though not easy, as Christians we should turn the other cheek, love our enemies, bless them that curse us, do good to them that hate us and pray for them which despitefully use and persecute us. Is this normal? No it isn’t and that’s why the life we live is abnormal.
Unlike the world, we cannot love only them that love us, we cannot salute only those that salute us and we cannot help only those who help us. Unlike the world the expectation of us is very high and what is at stake is also very high. Christ came on earth and lived an abnormal life, He loved the unlovable, He was a friend to the friendless, a companion to the outcast, a healer to the sick and an advocate for the poor.
Like Jesus we are expected to be abnormal, so much so that even in dying we can be a blessing.
Matthew 5:48; Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect

Dear Sandria, This is so true! I feel abnormal most the time, the square peg trying to fit in the big round world. I remind myself really often that this is not my home.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for a few ladies to get here this afternoon, I am going to help them learn to make some peach jelly!
We made three batches of plum the other day as I had the fruit in the freezer. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Come visit me soon! Blessings, Roxy
I love this, Sandria!
